Contact Improvisation Class & Jam

These class will be constructed around tools to work with partner, basics for contact improvisation, specific technical material, or 'phrases' of movement 💃

No prior experience is necessary, and all are welcome to join us for this dynamic and inclusive workshop. Come discover the joy of moving and exploring with others in a safe and supportive environment. See you on the dance floor.

What is Contact Improvisation ?

Contact improvisation involves the exploration from one's body to the next by using the fundamentals of sharing weight, touch, being kinetically aware and finding a point of contact between you and your partner. This practice plays with the artistry of falling off balance, counterbalance, finding the shelves of the body, learning the mechanics of the body in order to handle someone else's weight or be lifted, breathing techniques, and the art of getting to know your partner past the physical point through the physicality.

What is Contact Improvisation Jam?

Contact improvisation jam is a space to explore spontaneous, physical interaction between two or more dancers. It is typically performed in an improvisational and collaborative style, with participants responding to each other’s movements in real-time.

*Please take couple of t-shirts and comfortable pants, which cover the knees (it helps a lot to dance contact improv).
